Part 1: Manoeuvres
Players have one ball each.
Players run around the area dribbling the ball and lifting with skill.
Players perform exercise for 45-seconds.
Players then lift the ball over the object back and forth for 45-seconds as active rest.
Repeat 3-times.
COACHING POINTS
Stick on ball, head up, squeeze bottom hand to lift, move ball first. Feet moving, speed of execution.
Part 2: Eliminations
SET 1 (To the right)
1st player on each cone carries the ball to the right.
At each object, players lift the ball over and continue.
When they get to the cone, next player goes and continues the exercise.
Coach times 3-minutes.
SET 2 (To the left)
As per Set 1, but ball is carried to the left.
COACHING POINTS
Stick on ball, head up for vision. Feet moving, focus on speed.
Part 3: Connections
2 players on the cones carry the ball into the area lifting at speed and then pass the ball to another player on a cone.
Follow their pass.
Player receives the pass and carries the ball continuing the exercise.
Coach times 3-minutes. Repeat 3 times with aim being increasing speed each repetition.
COACHING POINTS
Stick on ball, drive into space, lift head for visual contact. Focus on speed, hard & accurate passing, strong receive.
Part 4: Small Group Gameplay
1 V 1 Reaction battle.
Players start behind cones.
Coach passes ball into the playing area.
As ball is played in, both players run through gates and race to the ball.
Whoever gets to the ball first becomes the attacker and can choose to carry the ball through either gate, while the defender has to react and run through the opposite gate.
Once through the gates, players take each other on 1 v 1 and score by running the ball through blue or white gate with control.
COACHING POINTS
Fast reaction, adapt to play, quick decisions, keep ball out in front. Visual cue on which cones to get through, be proactive on the ball, drive into space. Fast movement, change speed and direction, be aggressive.
