Part 1: Manoeuvres
Players have one ball each.
Players run around area with ball on stick for 45-seconds, then move the ball while standing still for 45-seconds as active rest.
Repeat 3-times.
COACHING POINTS
Stick on ball throughout movements. Low body position, keep head up, identify space, constantly change direction
Part 2: Eliminations
2 players on each cone with 1 ball each.
First player carries forward, moving the ball left and right.
Players move the ball between red cones as they carry the ball.
When the players get to the red box, they pull ball to the right and accelerate to the cone straight ahead.
As they reach the cone, the next player goes.
While waiting behind the cones, players move the ball in a static position.
1 goal for each time players cross to the opposite cone. Coach times 3-minutes.
Repeat 3-times and players attempt to beat their score with each attempt
COACHING POINTS
Stick on ball, look forward, keep hands away from body, spatial awareness. Low body position, head up, increase speed when changing direction
Part 3: Connections
Players in three groups starting behind the cones/
First person carries ball at speed. As players approach the red cones, they use evasive skill to avoid them.
When players reach the end, carry ball around the cone, make a pass back to the group, then jog back to the start.
Next player receives pass and repeats the exercise.
Waiting players move the ball from a static position.
Each completed pass equals 1 goal. Coach times 3-minutes as each group competes with each other.
Repeat 3-times
COACHING POINTS
Stick on the ball, look ahead, visual connection before passing, pass and receive on the move. Head up, knees bent, drive knees forward, focus on speed and accuracy.
Part 4: Small Group Gameplay
Teams play against each other in 2-minute matches.
Score in either of the 2 goals on the end line, from inside the shaded area (2 yards).
Winners move up to the right field, losers down to the left field. If scores tied, 1 round of rock/paper/scissors determines winner.
COACHING POINTS
Attackers: draw the defender, read body language, change angle. Attack the defender, drive into space and change speed.
Defenders: small steps when defending. Try to dictate where attack goes through your body and stick positioning.
