Part 1: Manoeuvres

1 ball per player.

Group divided into 3 groups and starting in shaded areas.

Run around the area dribbling the ball for 35 seconds.

Coach says 'GO' and the players set up behind one of the objects and lift the ball backwards and forwards for 35 seconds.

Coach says 'GO' and the players accelerate to the next area.

Repeat 3 times, then perform exercise in the opposite direction.

COACHING POINTS

Stick on the ball, head up for vision, fast hands. Keep feet moving, fluid ball movement, focus on speed.

Part 2: Eliminations

1st player carries ball forward and lifts the ball over each object.

When player reaches orange cone, waiting player carries forward and continues the exercise.

While players are waiting their turn, lift the ball in static position.

Score 1 point for every time players reach the orange cones.

Coach times 3-minutes.

Repeat twice as players attempt to beat their previous score.

COACHING POINTS

Stick on the ball, head up for vision, identify space. Keep feet moving, focus on speed.

Part 3: Connections

Players in groups of 3/4.

1st player carries ball halfway, passes to the player on the orange cone and becomes passive defender.

Player receives pass and carries ball towards defender - lifts ball over passive defenders reverse stick.

Once past the defender, passes to orange cone and continues exercise.

Coach times 3-minutes then repeat lifting over defenders front stick.

Stick on the ball, head up for vision, lead late. Keep feet moving, focus on speed.

Part 4: Small Group Gameplay

1 v 1 into 2 v 2.

1 player from each team starts on the red cone either side of the playing area.

Coach passes ball into the area and 1 player from each team enters the area from each side.

1 v 1 battle commences and players can score in any goal by dribbling through the shaded area first.

As soon as goal is scored, coach passes in a second ball as the other 2 players from each team enter the game.

Play 2 v 2 and can score in any goal.

Battles lasts 30 seconds (1 v 1) and 45 seconds (2 v 2) or until goal is scored.

COACHING POINTS

Confidence under pressure, drive into space, attack. When to eliminate/pass. High intensity on and off the ball, fast reaction.
